5 tips in writing a text or instant message
I wrote down 5 tips in writing a text or instant message that I try to keep in mind.
Jokes are not for everyone – most people don’t get them online, so don’t try them.
People love to hear their name – so use their first name where appropriate instead of ‘Hey’
You like to be shown respect – so treat others that way.
All capital letters means you’re yelling and NOBODY LIKES to be yelled at…
Pretend the person reading the message has forgotten why you’re writing – so add some context to your message. Don’t just say “can u wrk 4me?”, try “Can you drive for me this Saturday at 4pm?”
While a few people prefer blunt, no-frills communications, most people are juggling too many schedules and information in their head and I find it’s better to be helpful and remind them why you are writing.
